Kennewick motorcyclist injured in wreck

A Kennewick motorcyclist was taken to Kadlec Medical Center in Richland on Sunday after failing to negotiate a curve on Highway 261 about 30 miles east of Connell.

Javier L. Velazquez, 22, of Kennewick, struck a fence after losing control of a 2015 Yamaha YZF-R6 Supersport motorcycle at a curve at milepost 25. He was wearing a helmet, but did not have a motorcycle endorsement.

The Washington State Patrol said speed was a factor in the wreck, which is under investigation.
