Southridge junior competes in Outstanding Teen pageant

Sarah Niles, 17, a junior at Kennewick’s Southridge High School, is competing over the Memorial Day weekend for the title of Miss Washington’s Outstanding Teen competition.

She previously won the Miss Tri-Cities title in the competition, which is a “little sister” program to the Miss Washington and Miss America pageants.

The Outstanding Teen program promotes scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement. The 22 participants are judged on personal interviews, talent, evening wear, on-stage questions, academic achievement, lifestyle and fitness in active wear.

Niles’ platform is outreach and inclusivity. She will perform a jump-roping routine for the talent portion of the program.

The pageant’s final round begins at 6 p.m. May 29 at the Highline Performing Arts Center in Burien.
