Trios Health board settles on process to fill board seat
The Trios Health board is taking steps to fill the seat left vacant by the death of a longtime member.
The board will accept applications for Kathy Davidson’s seat through June 20.
Interviews then will be held and a selection made, most likely during a special session called later that week.
Board members discussed the matter during their meeting Thursday, agreeing that they don’t want to drag out the process.
“We have full plates. We need a full complement (on the board),” said board member Wanda Briggs.
The seven-member board oversees the Trios Health system, which includes two hospitals and a network of clinics and services.
Davidson, 52, died unexpectedly at home on May 14.
She first was elected to the Trios Board in 2005 and had about 1 1/2 years left on her most recent six-year term.
An accountant, she brought financial expertise and was known for her preparedness and attention to detail.
“Anytime there was a report or a presentation, she’d always read everything and was ready with some very detailed and necessary questions,” Marv Kinney, board president, told the Herald after her death.
Davidson’s husband, Duane, is the Benton County treasurer and a candidate for state treasurer. They have three children, daughters Bailey and Kinzey and son Luke.
Kinzey, the youngest, is set to graduate soon from Southridge High School in Kennewick.
By law, the board has 90 days to appoint a new member to the seat.
Former board member Vic Johnson said during Thursday’s meeting that he would throw his hat in the ring, pointing to his years of experience.
Johnson joined the board in 1998, serving until he lost his seat to Don Campbell in last November’s election.
Applications for the board seat are available at the Trios Health administration office, which is at the Trios Care Center at Southridge, 3730 Plaza Way, Kennewick.
