Some Blue Mountain campgrounds still closed
Campers will find a mix of open and closed campgrounds if they head to the Umatilla National Forest for Memorial Day weekend.
Some of the more popular campgrounds that will open for the holiday weekend include: Alder Thicket, Bear Wallow, Bull Prairie Lake, Coalmine Hill, Divide Well, Drift Fence, Driftwood, Fairview, Forest Boundary, Frazier, Gold Dredge, Ladybug, Lane Creek, North Fork John Day, Oriental, Panjab, Pataha, Penland Lake, Tollbridge, Tucannon, Umatilla Forks, and Winom.
Most campgrounds charge a fee ranging from $8 to $24 per night. Other fees may be imposed for additional vehicles parked at a single campsite.
Campgrounds remaining closed for the holiday weekend include Big Creek Meadows, Big Springs, Godman, Jubilee Lake, Midway, Misery, Olive Lake, Penland Lake, Target Meadows, Teal, Welch Creek, Wickiup, Woodward and Woodland.
Most roads and trails have not been maintained for the upcoming summer season. Some may still be impassible because of snowdrifts.
