Hatchery trout delivered for Kids’ Fishing Day in Columbia Park
Hundreds of rainbow trout poured out a tube Wednesday from a Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife tanker truck delivering the fish to the Family Fishing Pond in Columbia Park in time for the May 7 Kids’ Fishing Day event.
An estimated 6,000 trout were delivered from the Ringold Springs Hatchery for the 19th annual event, said organizer Ken Johanning.
The seven-acre pond is closed, except to participants during the event, until 3 p.m. May 7.
The pond is normally only open to juvenile anglers (under age 15) and adults with a disability who have a designated harvester companion card.
