Pasco frozen foods company expands voluntary recall over Listeria concerns

A Pasco frozen foods company is expanding a voluntary recall prompted by Listeria contamination concerns.

CRF Frozen Foods’ recall now applies to all frozen organic and traditional fruit and vegetable products manufactured or processed at its Pasco facility since May 1, 2014.

“All affected products have the best by dates or sell by dates between April 26, 2016 and April 26, 2018,” the company said in an announcement.

Seven people in three states have become ill and were hospitalized because of Listeria, and some of the illnesses have been linked to CRF-manufactured or processed products, the announcement said.

Two of the people later died, although Listeria was not the cause of death in either case, the announcement said.

Operations at the Pasco facility were suspended as of April 25 “so a thorough review could be conducted,” the company said.

Consumers who’ve purchased the products can return them to the store for a refund or dispose of them. All retailers who received the products have been contacted.
