Umatilla forest firewood permits go on sale

Umatilla National Forest firewood permits for home use go on sale in May.

Cost is $5 per cord with a minimum purchase of four cords. businesses can charge an additional $2 fee per four cords, but permits also may be purchased at forest service offices. Households are limited to 12 cords per year.

Permits can be purchased at Southgate Mini-Mart in Pendleton, Pomeroy Foods and Last Resort in Pomeroy, Conoco General Store in Dayton, CHS Farmers Co-op in Walla Walla, Tollgate Gas and Store in Weston and Smitty’s Ace Hardware in Hermiston.
