Two injured when driver runs red light in Richland

A Kennewick man was charged with second-degree negligent driving when he ran a red light in Richland, striking another vehicle in the intersection.

The Washington State patrol said Warren D. Monroe, 82, of Kennewick, was driving a 2004 Ford Ranger pickup westbound on Highway 240 when he failed to stop at a red light at Duportail Road, striking a 2013 Chrysler headed southbound in the intersection.

Monroe was not injured. The driver and passenger in Chrysler were both transported to Kadlec Medical Center.

Tommy R. Norton, 75, and Bonnie J. Norton, 73, both of Richland, were not wearing seatbelts, the state patrol said. The hospital did not disclose their conditions.

The Ford Ranger was totaled in the wreck, the state patrol said.
