Intoxicated driver arrested after bashing in office building with minivan

A Kennewick woman faces charges of driving under the influence and hit and run after striking a Kennewick office building with her minivan late Friday night.

The Kennewick Police Department reports officers located Kelli Westlund, 29, near 1105 W. 10th after she fled the scene of an accident and abandoned her vehicle.

According to police, Westlund was driving a minivan south on Hartford Street and struck the front of the Stripe Rite office building, 723 W. Deschutes Ave., when she failed to negotiate a turn onto Deschutes. The collision knocked down the entire front wall of the brick office building.

Police say Westlund then backed out and drove about half a block to Fruitland Park, where she abandoned her vehicle and fled on foot with a male passenger.

The male passenger was not arrested. There were no reported injuries.
