Three hurt in Prosser wreck

Three people were hurt Saturday in a wreck on Interstate 82 in Prosser.

Gerald Hopkins, 47, of Pasco, was driving a 1999 Nissan Altima east on the highway at 4:41 p.m. when he was rear-ended by a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu that was changing lanes, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Hopkins was taken to PMH Medical Center, along with Michael Lopez, 58, of Sunnyside, the Malibu’s driver, and Malibu passenger, Elsa M. Martinez, 47, of Grandview.

Troopers are recommending that Lopez be charged with improper lane change.

Drugs and alcohol weren’t involved.
