West Richland nesting wood ducks on live stream cameras (w/video)

Video cameras are live-streaming from inside two wood duck nest boxes near the Yakima River in the West Richland area, thanks to the Richland Rod and Gun Club.

In one box a wood duck hen is incubating 13 eggs. This is her second year on camera — last year her chicks jumped from the nest on May 1.

Wood ducks do not feed their ducklings in the nest. The babies usually are urged to jump by their mother 24 hours after they hatch to find food.

The second camera is on a wood duck hen incubating 14 eggs.
