State holding meetings on raising I-90 speed limit

Drivers will get a chance to weigh in on plans to lift the speed limit on a 100-mile stretch of Interstate 90 at hearings next week.

The 2015 Legislature authorized raising the speed limit to 75 mph, from the current 70, for the stretch between George and the Spokane County line.

The agency plans hearings from 4 to 7 p.m. April 19 at Ritzville’s Best Western Plus Bronco Inn, 105 W. Galbreath Way, and at 11:30 a.m. April 20 at the Moses Lake Civic Center, 401 S. Balsam St.

Public comments will guide the department’s decision, which is expected in May. If approved, it will take effect once new speed limit signs are posted.

Comments may also be submitted to bit.ly/75on90.
