Dispatcher who helped deliver baby girl wins kudos
Amanda Lee was on duty at the Benton County dispatch center late April 3 when she fielded a frantic 911 call.
A family member was with a laboring mother about to deliver a baby girl at home.
Lee offered guidance, support, encouragement and in the end, congratulations, throughout the call.
This week, Lee was honored by her superiors with a stork pin and a commendation letter applauding her professionalism.
“Dispatchers rarely have the opportunity to participate in truly joyful events. I am glad you can add this accomplishment to your list of professional highlights. Thank you for the conscientious and thoughtful handling of this event. This is only one example of the superior service you consistently provide to our citizens and user agencies,” wrote her supervisor, Kim Lettrick, with Benton County Emergency Services Southeast Communications (SECOMM).
