Tri-City weather spotter training offered April 16

The National Weather Service is looking for Mid-Columbia volunteers to report severe weather.

They relay what they observe to the weather service, allowing forecasters to track storms and alert the public to dangerous weather situations. The informal program does not interfere with work or other daily routines.

The weather service, in cooperation with the emergency management officials, will hold a two-hour training session for potential volunteers at 3 p.m. April 16 at the Emergency Operations Center, 651 Truman Ave., Richland.

Another training session will be held at 2 p.m. April 29 in Room 203 at the Center for Career and Technical Education off Argent Street on the Columbia Basin College campus in Pasco.
