Energy Northwest wins national safety recognition
The American Public Power Association has awarded Energy Northwest of Richland first place in its 2015 Safety Awards of Excellence for safe operating practices.
Energy Northwest received top honors in the category for utilities with about 500 to 2,000 workers.
Its safety score was more than 10 times better than the second-place finisher, as calculated by work-related injuries or illnesses per worker hours in 2015.
Milton-Freewater City Light and Power, which competed in a category for smaller utilities, was the only other Northwest winner. More than 250 utilities submitted entries.
