Carousel of Dreams closed March 25 to allow clear coat on horses to dry

Volunteer Carrie Byrd of Kennewick applies a clear coat to one of the horses Thursday at the Gesa Carousel of Dreams in Kennewick.

A small group of volunteers recently spent several days cleaning, repairing, filling and sanding scratches and repainting the 106-year-old wood horses as part of an annual maintenance program.

The facility will be closed March 25 to allow the fresh paint and clear coat to properly cure.

The carousel reopens Saturday for Easter weekend.
