Azteca moving onto Canal Drive in Kennewick
One of the locations for a Tri-City Mexican restaurant chain is being taken over by a Seattle-based franchise with locations across the Northwest and in Florida.
Azteca Mexican Restaurants is renovating the building at 6505 Canal Drive in Kennewick. An opening date hasn’t been announced.
A message seeking comment from the company wasn’t immediately returned, but a building permit on file with the city indicates construction includes moving the restaurant’s bar, adding more than 700 square feet of dining space, and the installation of new kitchen equipment and new finishes throughout.
The building was formerly home to one of two locations of 3 Margaritas. Its remaining location is near the intersection of Jadwin Avenue and Lee Boulevard in Richland.
Azteca has only one other location in the Tri-Cities, at the corner of Highway 395 and 10th Avenue in Kennewick. A second location at Columbia Center mall closed months ago and became retail space.
The restaurant offers lunch and dinner menus, from its famous macho burrito to standards such as enchiladas and fajitas, as well as party platters and catering. Prices range from about $10 up to $30.
