No Franklin PUD rate increase this year

The Franklin PUD Commission voted unanimously Tuesday not to raise electric rates in 2016.

In July 2015 the commission approved a 3 percent rate increase that started in September and also approved a second rate increase of up to 5 percent to start May 1.

However, the 2016 increase was subject to an evaluation of the PUD’s 2015 financial results.

Because of higher than expected revenue in2015, the commission concluded it could forgo the raise this year.
