Areva donates $5,000 for STEM scholarships
Areva in Richland has donated $5,000 to Delta High School for scholarships for students pursuing a college education in a STEM-related field.
Delta is the Tri-Cities’ public science, technology, engineering and math school.
In addition to making the donation, Ron Land, the Areva Richland site manager, and other Areva engineers discussed the demand for engineers in the work force, how to prepare for an engineering career and the benefits of STEM education. Students took part in a challenge, designing and building structures using coffee stirrers and modeling clay to withstand simulated earthquakes.
