Richland nuclear plant sirens to sound
Emergency sirens for the Columbia Generating Station will be tested between 10 a.m. and noon March 16.
Sirens will sound along the Columbia and Yakima rivers and in portions of Benton and Franklin counties within about 10 miles of Energy Northwest’s nuclear power plant near Richland. They will be heard along the Columbia River between the Vernita Bridge and Richland’s Leslie Grove Park, at the Horn Rapids Off-Road Vehicle Park and at the firing range on Horn Road.
Tone alert radios issued to residents living within 10 miles of the reactor also will be activated.
