Leprechaun Dash is March 12 at Columbia Park

The annual St. Patrick’s Day fun run for Mid-Columbia youth will be March 12 at the north end of Columbia Park.

The Leprechaun Dash is a one-mile run for children 15 years and younger. It’s organized by the 3 Rivers Road Runners running club.

There is no charge to participate but youth must register. Registration can be completed from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on March 11 at the Richland Community Center or at Kimo’s near the starting line at 7 a.m. the day of the race.

Schools with a minimum of 100 finishers in the event will share in a $5,000 fund for physical education equipment, though the school with most finishers will receive the largest portion.

The run starts at 9 a.m. at the west end of Columbia Park at R.F. McDougall’s and Kim’s in the Columbia Center North development. The course is a loop that finishes back at the starting line.

Parents who must run with their kids are asked not to register and to start at the back of all the runners.
