Prosser youth wins Youth of the Year Award for Benton, Franklin counties

Tri-City Herald

Prosser High School senior Zebbie Castilleja was recently named 2016 Youth of the Year for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Benton & Franklin Counties.

The award came with a $1,500 scholarship provided by the Eerkes family. Zebbie will now compete with others from around the state for Washington Youth of the Year and another $1,000 in scholarships in Seattle on March 31.

Zebbie submitted speeches, essay and letters of recommendation to a panel of local community members to apply for the award and was also interviewed by the panel. He has been mentored by Kennewick police Chief Ken Hohenberg as part of his participation in the Boys & Girls Clubs.

Zebbie plans to attend Washington State University Tri-Cities in the fall with the goal of joining the Kennewick Police Department.
