Cascade rain means high water in Yakima River
Heavy rain in the Cascade Mountains through Monday will be showing up as high water levels in the Yakima River later this week.
The river at the Kiona gauge is expected to crest at a couple inches below 11 feet Feb. 19. It was just over 7 feet deep midday Sunday.
The National Weather Service considers 11 feet the “action stage” at which residents in low lying areas need to use caution. Flood stage is 13 feet.
