Eltopia company fells trees near Burbank for Wallula pulp mill
A specially-designed excavator cuts and stacks cottonwood trees Monday morning about five miles from Burbank on Highway 124.
Andrewjeski Farms of Eltopia is under contract to harvest the 45-foot tall trees and deliver the chipped wood to the Boise pulp mill in Wallula, according to supervisor Eric Harden of Andrewjeski Farms.
An estimated 106 semi-truck loads of chips, each weighing about 97,000 pounds, have been delivered so far this year, added Harden.
Paper and cardboard products are manufactured at the Wallula facility.
