New FM radio station launches in Tri-Cities
Alexandra Communications Inc. has launched a new FM radio station featuring a mix of music described as “adult album alternative” to serve the Tri-Cities.
KQFO, known as 100.1 The Oasis, features a wide variety of artists from Adele to Alabama Shakes, The Beatles to Beck, Coldplay, Dave Matthews Band and more.
“We play older songs that were ahead of their time when they came out, but we’re constantly on the lookout for new music that displays talent, musicianship and innovation,” said Chris Gilbreth, station program director, in a release. “Somewhere along the way, the radio industry got the idea that adults only want to hear a small list of their favorite old songs on repeat. We’re the station for anyone who wants to hear what’s next. We have some songs on the air now that we’re sure will be introduced as ‘new’ by other radio stations in a few months.”
100.1 The Oasis marks Alexandra Communications’ second station in the Tri-City radio market, having launched 101.9 Hank FM last October. Hank plays classic country music from the 70s 80s and 90s, in contrast to other country music stations playing modern country.
Alexandra Communications Inc. is based in Walla Walla, with radio stations in Walla Walla and Kennewick, as well as Tillamook, Ore.
