State proposes acquiring land along Touchet River
The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife is proposing acquiring 2,560 acres of land along the Touchet River for hunting, fishing and wildlife viewing.
It’s one of 10 parcels the department would like to acquire from willing landowners through donations and grants.
The land along 3.5 miles of the Touchet River provides habitat for steelhead, bull trout, deer, and ferruginous hawk and other birds. The landis about three miles south of Highway 124 and 10 miles west of Prescott in Walla Walla County.
Public comment may be sent until Feb. 12 to Lands@dfw.wa.gov or mailed to Lauri Vigue, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, 600 Capitol Way N., Olympia, WA 98501-1091.
