Volunteers sought for advocate training in Kennewick
The Support, Advocacy and Resource Center will offer a 32-hour volunteer advocate training through February and the beginning of March.
The nonprofit United Way agency serving Benton and Franklin counties provides crisis services and prevention education for community members on sexual assault/abuse, child abuse, elder abuse, assault, homicide, robbery, identity theft and fraud.
SARC relies on community volunteers to run its 24-hour hotline. Volunteer advocates can be on call from the comfort of their homes or as on-call hospital advocates.
The volunteer advocate training is designed to give volunteers the tools they need to work with victims and their families. Training is from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. twice per week from Feb. 16 to March 3 at SARC, 830 N. Columbia Center Blvd., Suite H in Kennewick.
