Mattawa toddler killed in wreck
A 2-year-old girl died Friday evening in a wreck on Highway 243 about 10 miles south of Mattawa.
Two others in the vehicle also were hurt.
The vehicle was headed south on the highway about 6:30 p.m. in a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica when the vehicle left the road to the right, rolled and came to a rest on its top, the Washington State Patrol reported.
The 2-year-old, from Mattawa, wasn’t buckled up and died at the scene, troopers said. They didn’t release her name.
The car’s driver, Omar Ledesma-Adame, 17, of Mattawa, was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, where he was treated and later released.
Rosa Maria G. Adame, 50, of Mattawa, another passenger, also was hurt but wasn’t taken to a hospital, troopers said.
Drugs and alcohol weren’t involved. The wreck is under investigation.
