Ki-Be FFA places 15th at state competition
Four members of the Kiona-Benton City FFA chapter competed for their first time in apple judging at the state level on Dec. 9. Future Farmers of America members Mikenzye Alley, John Engelke, Bailey Flagg and Hanna Gemmell competed against 140 FFA members from across Washington to test their apple knowledge.
Members took a restricted use pesticide test, identified blemishes on 50 apples, identified 20 different insects, determined the variety of 25 apples, evaluated red and golden delicious apples, pressure tested the apples, calculated bloom dates and judged trays of apples.
Kiona Benton FFA placed 15th at state, with a combined score of 676.
