Several blocks of Clark Street in Pasco were closed Saturday morning after a car struck and knocked over a telephone pole.

The crash happened about 6 a.m. when a distracted driver looked away from the road and began drifting toward the sidewalk near the intersection of Clark Street and 12th Avenue, said a release from Pasco police. When the driver realized what was happening, they panicked and hit the accelerator, striking the pole and ripping it out at the base. No one was injured.

“This is a good reminder that all it takes is two seconds and your car is totaled and you’re on the hook for a telephone pole,” the release said.
