Pipeline work prompts road closures in Kennewick
Jeff Miller, an employee of A-Core Concrete Cutting, maneuvers a water-cooled circular blade cutting machine Friday along South Vancouver Street near West 37th Avenue in Kennewick.
The asphalt cutting is in preparation for an installation of an underground pressurized pipeline to replace an existing gravity pipeline for the Kennewick Irrigation District.
The roadway will have three phases of temporary daytime closures, between West 36th and West 45th avenues, starting Jan. 12 and lasting until Feb. 22.
Road closures are expected to re-open each night, according to a KID press release.
Motorists will be directed by detour signs and reader boards posted in the area during the project.
Updates to the work schedule will be available on the KID website at www.kid.org, under the “News” tab.
