Herald welcomes new sports editor, reporter

The Tri-City Herald has promoted a veteran sports writer to lead its sports department.

Kevin Anthony follows in the footsteps of longtime sports editor Jeff Morrow, who retired after more than 30 years with the Herald. His last day was Dec. 26.

Anthony has 22 years of experience covering sports and has been with the Herald for eight years.

The University of Montana grad previously covered sports at the Wenatchee World, Coeur d’Alene Press and Raton (New Mexico) Range.

In his spare time, Anthony enjoys hiking Badger Mountain, playing fetch with Tessa, his black lab, and rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He can be reached at 509-582-1508 or kanthony@tricityherald.com.

Reporter returns to Tri-Cities

A former Tri-City Herald reporter has rejoined the newsroom.

Wendy Culverwell replaces reporter Geoff Folsom, who left to work at the Redmond, Ore., weekly newspaper. She worked for the Herald from 1997-2003, covering K-12 education and business, and brings with her 28 years of experience.

She spent the past decade at the Portland Business Journal, a weekly print and daily online specialty publication covering Portland business news, where she covered commercial real estate and sustainability. She also worked as a reporter at The Olympian, Klamath Falls Herald and News, and Federal Way News.

Culverwell will be covering the cities of Richland, Kennewick, West Richland, agriculture, the ports and transportation.

When not reporting the news, Culverwell enjoys skiing and biking, and hopes to someday hike the Pacific Crest Trail.

She can be reached at 509-582-1514 or wculverwell@tricityherald.com.
