Tri-City Toys for Tots needs last minute donations as it prepares to help thousands of children in Benton and Franklin counties.

It needs toys for boys and girls ages 9 to 12, said Glen Carter, local area coordinator.

He suggested items such as basketballs, footballs, soccer balls, hair accessories, mp3 players and art sets.

Donations can be dropped off at the Toys “R” Us near the Columbia Center mall and the Marine Corps recruiting office at 8390 W. Gage Blvd., across from Costco.

They’ll be accepted through Christmas Eve, although the biggest toy distributions are Dec. 19 and 20, Carter said.

Tri-City Toys for Tots provided toys to about 6,000 needy kids in the Tri-City area last year.
