Vit plant employees donate to Toys for Tots
Employees at Hanford’s vitrification plant recently donated thousands of toys and more than $35,000 to the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots campaign.
That includes a $19,000 donation from workers at the construction site to Local 598 pipefitters’ Bikes for Tikes campaign. The pipefitters are buying and assembling 750 bikes and helmets for Toys for Tots.
Bechtel, a parent company for the employees, donated another $5,000 to Bikes for Tikes.
Bechtel and URS have donated more than $590,000 to community organizations in 2015, according to a news release. Recipients include the United Way of Benton and Franklin counties, Second Harvest, Junior Achievement and March of Dimes.
Griggs Ace Hardware and Vintners Logistics also assisted with the bike donation.
