A 24-year-old Hermiston man was killed Saturday in a two-car collision on Highway 207 in Umatilla County.

Richard Dean Cox was pronounced dead at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston shortly after the crash about 5 p.m. near milepost 5, according to the Oregon State Police.

Cox was pulling a Checy Traverse out of a private driveway onto the highway when the SUV was struck on the driver’s side by a semi-truck, police said.

The crash closed north and south lanes for more than two hours.

The driver of the semi, Harvey S. Hass, 62, of Umatilla, was uninjured.

A passenger in the Chevy, Jerome Martel Price, 30, sought medical treatment at Good Shepherd, police said.
