McNary Dam’s new water system completed
Construction of McNary Dam’s new potable water distribution system has been completed and the system is being used.
The Army Corps of Engineers spent nearly a year replacing the dam’s water distribution system, which had been used for more than 50 years. The system no longer met requirements for fire protection and irrigation. About half of the 22-foot-tall new concrete water tank has been buried below ground and an earthen berm placed on three side to look more natural.
The old water tank is being demolished for removal.
