Tri-City stores sell permits to cut Christmas trees
Permits to cut Christmas trees in the Umatilla National Forest are being sold in the Tri-Cities and at other Mid-Columbia locations.
They cost $5 and are limited to one per household.
This year under the Every Kid in a Park initiative, fourth-graders may receive a free tree permit using a voucher printed from online and presented at a National Forest Office. They cannot be used at stores. Go to www.everykidinapark.gov for instructions.
Tags may be purchased at Farmer’s Exchange in Kennewick, Columbia Grain and Feed in Pasco, Conoco General Store in Dayton, Ace Hardware in Hermiston, and Dave’s Chevron and Southgate Mini-Market in Pendleton.
More information is posted at www.fs.usda.gov/umatilla under “News & Events.”
