Air quality deteriorates in Tri-Cities under inversion

TriCities

Air quality in the Tri-Cities is deteriorating as an inversion settles over the Mid-Columbia.

The National Weather Service has issued an air stagnation advisory through today.

The Benton Clean Air Agency gauge put air quality in the Tri-Cities on Saturday in the moderate range. People with chronic illnesses such as asthma, diabetes or heart disease should limit or reduce outdoor activities when air quality falls from “good” to “moderate.”

Cold temperatures are expected to continue through Dec. 1, with patchy freezing fog forecast nights and each morning until 10 a.m.

Highs should rise from about 26 degrees today to about freezing Dec. 1. Lows should be in the upper teens until Tuesday night in the Tri-Cities. Temperatures are expected to warm midweek.
