Trios Health board picks new officers
The board that oversees the Trios Health system has picked new officers.
Marvin Kinney was chosen as president, Jim Mefford as vice president and Kathy Davidson as secretary. The one-year terms take effect in January.
The Trios board has been divided on handling its finances, with a three-member minority — including Kinney, Davidson and Rick Reil — calling for help from a turnaround firm and a four-member majority saying that wasn't needed.
But that voting bloc may have changed after board vice president Victor Johnson, who was with the majority, was unseated in this month’s election by Don Campbell, who was backed by the minority.
Board chairwoman Donna Vance, who also often voted with the majority, did not seek re-election but was replaced by Mike McWhorter, who was supported by the majority.
The district has about 1,200 employees at two hospitals and a network of care centers, including the Trios Care Center at Southridge, which opened earlier this year.
