U-turn turns fatal near Toppenish

A Kennewick man was involved in a fatal crash early Tuesday just west of Toppenish when another driver made a U-turn in front of him, said the Washington State Patrol.

Sharon Marie Wesley, 60, of Wapato, was driving west at 8:55 a.m. on Fort Road near the intersection with Lateral A Road when she tried to make a U-turn, said the WSP.

Her Chevrolet Aveo was hit by a Ford F-250 pickup driven by Tyler Lowe, 25, of Kennewick. Wesley died at the scene. Lowe was not hurt. Both were wearing seat belts.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
