West Richland to decrease sewer rates
West Richland residents will see their sewer rates drop 5 percent as of Dec. 22, according to a news release.
The decrease will add up to about $24 a year per resident or business owner. The city adjusted the rate after reviewing an updated sanitary sewer rate model that considers a number of variables affecting the rate.
The city last year received an award from the state Department of Ecology for perfect compliance with its permit.
Officials also say they have been successful in applying for and receiving competitive grants and low-interest loans to help with capital projects.
