Cooler weather forecast for Tri-Cities

Temperatures in the Tri-Cities should be dropping this weekend despite a high pressure system over the region.

The system has kept temperatures higher than usual for October, said Douglas Weber, meteorologist for the National Weather Service. But the quickly shortening days are reducing solar heat.

Highs should drop into the upper 60s Tuesday through Thursday. By Friday the high in the Tri-Cities is forecast to be about 63. The weekend also should be cooler, with highs in the mid to low 60s.

High temperatures still are expected to be a couple of degrees above normal for this time of the year in the Tri-Cities. Octobers usually end with highs of about 58.

Lows should remain above freezing this week, falling to the high 30s Thursday through Saturday night. Normal lows for the end of October in the Tri-Cities are near 39.
