Picking peppers in Pasco for those in need
Susan Koenig, Rob Koenig, Fred Mann and Luke Hallowell, from left, all with Fields of Grace, glean peppers Tuesday from a research farm plot at Columbia Basin College in Pasco.
The organization expected to pick an additional 1,000 pounds of peppers after harvesting an estimated 2,600 pounds from the same field earlier this month.
Since 2006, the group has partnered with area farmers and homeowners to harvest more the 1.5 million pounds of produce for local food banks.
