More nuclear siren testing planned Wednesday

A test of a new emergency alert siren for Energy Northwest’s nuclear power plant will be repeated at 10 a.m. Oct. 14 near the intersection of Taylor Flats Road and Eltopia West Road in rural Franklin County.

Annual testing of more sirens then is scheduled for between 10 a.m. to noon Thursday along the Columbia and Yakima rivers and in portions of both Benton and Franklin counties. The tests check emergency equipment and train workers on emergency response procedures.
