Kennewick teen killed in Interstate 82 crash near Benton City
A 16-year-old Kennewick boy was killed Monday night when he lost control of his pickup and it rolled across Interstate 82, east of Benton City.
Andrew M. Dayton died at the scene, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Two other boys in the truck — Jacob D. Kutrowski, 17, of Kennewick, and Conner J. Perryman, 17, of Richland — were taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland for treatment, a state patrol report said.
Troopers said it is not known if any of the teens were wearing seat belts during the 6:54 p.m. crash.
Dayton reportedly was eastbound in a 1994 Ford F-150 when the truck veered onto the highway shoulder from the left lane.
He overcorrected, which caused the truck to cross both eastbound lanes toward the right shoulder and then roll, the state patrol report said.
The crash happened five miles east of Benton City near the exit for Interstate 1-82 into Richland.
