Kennewick man killed in hunting accident

A Kennewick man died early Saturday after he was accidentally shot while hunting in Whitman County.

Nicholas Nava-Farias, 31, was hunting with a group of people near Glenwood Road just east of Colfax when he was shot with a muzzleloader rifle, according to the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office.

Members of the group tried to perform CPR on Nava-Farias, who was pronounced dead shortly after medics arrived to the remote hunting spot.

The state Department of Fish & Wildlife is investigating, though it appears the shooting was accidental.
