Audubon group plans walk, Reach activities
The Lower Columbia Basin Audubon Society will hold its monthly bird walk Oct. 10, followed by activities at the Reach center in Richland.
There is no cost for the bird walk 8 to 10 a.m. on Bateman Island, leaving from the Wye Park on Columbia Park Trail.
At the Reach, lessons on drawing birds will be offered 10 to 11:30 a.m. At 10:30 a video on climate change will be shown. At 1 p.m. Jack Nesbit, a Spokane teacher and author, will give a slide presentation on the travels of a naturalist through the Northwest in the 1860s.
Audubon Society members will be available 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Reach to answer questions about birds. Free memberships to the group will be offered and drawings will be held for prizes. Admission to the Reach is $6 for students ages 6 to 18 and $8 for adults.
