Lourdes receives patient-safety award

Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco has earned a Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award.

The distinction places Lourdes among the top 5 percent of hospitals in the country for prevention of serious, potentially preventable conditions during hospital stays, said the hospital.

No other Mid-Columbia hospital ranked as high in patient safety, said Lourdes officials.

The study took place from 2011-13, using 13 safety indicators for patients in the Medicare population.

Lourdes also received the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for hospital accreditation.
