The last day of business for Kennewick’s OfficeMax store is scheduled for Nov. 14.

The store is one of 400 being closed by Office Depot, which merged with OfficeMax in 2014, over the next several years. Office Depot spokeswoman Julianne Embry said 165 stores were closed in 2014 and another 100 in the second quarter of this year.

Customers of OfficeMax, next to Lowe’s Home Improvement on Columbia Center Boulevard, can still be served at the Office Depot at 6615 W. Canal Drive, Embry said.

Embry declined to talk about the future of Office Depot’s Richland store at 1717 George Washington Way, saying for competitive reasons it is not releasing a list of stores to be closed.

Earlier this year, a $6.3 billion acquisition of Office Depot by Staples was announced and was approved by Office Depot shareholders in May. But recent news reports have questioned whether the Federal Trade Commission will approve that deal.
