Ban the Bomb demonstration set Sept. 26 in Richland
Tri-Cities-based World Citizens for Peace plans a “Ban the Bomb” rally and demonstration at 4 p.m. Sept. 26.
A short program in John Dam Plaza in Richland will be followed by a demonstration on the plaza’s sidewalk along George Washington Way until 5 p.m.
The rally will call for the administration and Congress to end the planned 30-year program to update all U.S. nuclear weapon facilities and systems, estimated to cost up to $1 trillion.
World Citizens for Peace also wants a commitment to total nuclear disarmament under a verifiable, step-by-step, multilateral process with other nuclear powers.
Children and animals are welcome. Participants may bring American flags to show that peace is patriotic, according to organizers.
